Consulting & Event Production

Work with me

I get hired by small businesses and nonprofits to fix the parts of the operation that stopped working — and to run the events they can't afford to get wrong. I've done all of it inside my own companies before I ever did it for anyone else. That's the whole reason I'm any good at it.

01Who this is for

Past the idea stage, stuck on the operating stage

You're not looking for someone to tell you what your business could be. You know that already. You need someone to sort out why the thing you built is harder to run than it should be.

The businesses I work with are usually growing faster than their systems. Everything important lives in one person's head. The website says what the business was three years ago. Marketing happens when someone remembers. Nothing is broken exactly — it's just all held together by the owner, and the owner is tired.

The nonprofits are usually the same story with less staff and more heart. A real mission, a board that means well, no development engine, and an annual event that consumes the entire team for two months.

I'm not a strategist who hands you a deck. I build the thing, then show you how to run it without me. If the honest answer is that you don't need me, I'll say that on the call.

And you can hire me for the microphone on its own — to pitch your deal, emcee your event, or present.

02The work

What I actually do

Small business

Operations revamp

Taking what lives in your head and turning it into something your team can run. Workflow, documentation, handoffs, and the unglamorous parts that decide whether growth hurts.

Marketing & brand

Rebuilding how you present yourself when the current version no longer matches what you've become — messaging, positioning, and the channels actually worth your time.

Website

Rebuilds and overhauls for businesses whose site is out of date, or was never really built for them in the first place.

Business planning

The plan you'll use — priorities, sequencing, and what to stop doing — rather than a document written to be filed.

Nonprofit

Operations

Board support, internal process, and the systems that let a small staff and a volunteer bench work like a bigger organization than they are.

Development & donor relations

Fundraising campaigns, sponsor cultivation, and donor communication — the same work I do as Chief Development Officer for the CloudDancer Scholarship, applied to your organization.

Event consulting

Coming in on the event you already run to fix what keeps breaking, or building the one you've been meaning to launch.

Event production

End to end

Budget, venue, sponsors, vendors, run-of-show, and the hundred small decisions on the day that nobody notices unless you get them wrong.

Sponsorship

Building the sponsor package, making the asks, and delivering what you promised so they come back next year.

On-site

I'm there running it, not on a phone. Registration, vendors, program, and the problems that only exist between 4pm and 7pm.

On the mic

Pitching your deal

I'll take your deal into the room and present it — to investors, to sponsors, from a stage at somebody else's event. I run deal flow monthly, so I know what makes a room lean in and what makes it check its phone.

Emcee

Holding the room from the front: keeping the program on time, carrying the energy through the slow parts, and covering the gaps nobody planned for without the audience noticing.

Presenter

Speaking on what I actually do — operations, raising capital, running events, building something that outlasts the thing you were first known for.

04How it works

How we start

Two steps before any money changes hands for real work. The first one is free and short. The second one you'll get something out of whether or not you hire me.

Discovery call
Free · 15 minutes

Quick and honest. You tell me what's going on, I tell you whether it's something I can help with. If it isn't, I'll point you at whoever can.

  • Tell me your best days and times — I'll work around them
  • No deck, no pitch
Strategy session
$400 · 90 minutes

We go deep on the actual problem. You leave with a written plan — priorities, sequencing, and what to do first — that's yours to keep and run yourself if you want to.

  • Credited in full if you go on to a project
  • Plenty of people stop here, and that's a fine outcome

Then, if there's more to do

Project
Scoped per project

One defined problem with a finish line. An operations revamp, a website rebuild, a business plan, a marketing overhaul.

  • Fixed price, agreed before we start
  • Built to hand off to your team
Ongoing support
Monthly retainer

For organizations that need a steady hand rather than a one-time fix. Standing time each month, and I'm reachable in between.

  • Set scope, month to month
  • Nonprofit rate available
Event production
Per event

From the first budget conversation to the last vendor invoice. I run it on the day.

  • Priced by size and scope
  • Sponsorship support included
05Questions

Before you write to me

Do you work with nonprofits at a different rate?

Yes. Nonprofit work is priced differently from business work, and I say so openly rather than making you ask. I also take on a small amount of pro bono work each year — but that's something I choose, not the default offer.

Do you take a percentage of what we raise?

No. Percentage-of-funds-raised compensation is against the ethical standards the fundraising profession holds itself to, and for good reason. You'll get a flat fee or a retainer.

What if we only need a few hours of help?

Then the strategy session is probably all you need. Plenty of people take the plan and run it themselves, and I'd rather tell you that than sell you something bigger.

Why is the strategy session paid when the first call isn't?

The first call is me working out whether I can help. The second one is me actually helping — you leave with a written plan you can act on with or without me. If you go on to a project, the fee comes off the top.

Are you doing the work, or handing it to someone else?

Me. If a piece needs a specialist I'll say so and bring one in with your approval, but I'm the one running it.

How far out are you booking?

Depends on the season — events cluster. I'll be straight with you about timing on the call rather than promising a date I can't hold.

Tell me what you're dealing with

Give me a couple of sentences about the problem — not a formal brief — and what days and times work best for you. My schedule moves constantly, so I'd rather fit the call around you than send you a calendar and hope.
